SOS: Bariatric surgery slashes development of diabetes

New 15-year follow-up data from the SOS study indicate that bariatric surgery dramatically cuts the risk of obese subjects developing diabetes. Initial indications are that metabolic parameters, rather than BMI, will turn out to best predict which obese people should undergo surgery.
