Timing of elective surgery after DES may be relaxed, study suggests

Although current guidelines recommend that patients who receive a drug-eluting stent wait a year before undergoing elective surgery, a new study hints that the optimal wait time to minimize risk may be six months. But more information is needed to determine the best way to manage antiplatelet therapy in these patients, the researchers agree.
