No increased risk of CVD a decade after E coli outbreak

Long-term follow-up of people suffering gastroenteritis due to an E coli outbreak in Canada has found no evidence that they are at increased risk of heart disease or stroke. This is reassuring, say the authors, given their own previous research indicating that the victims had a higher risk of kidney damage and hypertension due to toxins produced by the bacterium.
