A newer-generation biolimus-eluting stent with a biodegradable polymer showed better efficacy than a bare-metal stent in STEMI patients and a hint at superior safety in the COMFORTABLE AMI study, which has just been published. The findings add to growing evidence that newer-generation stents are preferable to bare-metal stents for use in STEMI, provided antiplatelet therapy is adhered to, say the authors and editorialists.
