St Jude's ICD lead insulation questioned in new analysis

The proprietary insulation copolymer of silicone and polyurethane that protects the Riata ST Optim and Durata implantable cardioverter defibrillator leads does not prevent insulation abrasions, and this may result in lead failure and other adverse clinical events, including inappropriate shocks and patient death, according to a new analysis.
